Well Sat was a good day as we got together and put up the Vertical antenna at the club house. IT went to gather very well. I mowed the lawn real low so hopefully the radios will not interfere with the normal mowing. It was a little chilly at first but warmed up very nicely. We worked together as a team very good. Wayne (N2WK),Chuck (N8CL),Steve (WF2S), Warren (KF7ILU),Dick (KA2BCF,MArion (KA2BCE, Mike (WZ2MM),and Terry (KC2JKU) were all there. It turned out very nice and I think we all had a grand time. Afterwards we headed down to Tim Horton of course to finish the Morning and project. No club project can be finished with out a round table of good friendship and coffee.

I and Wayne worked the nartty contest over the weekend of Feb 26. It was a 12 hour contest and we worked it for 10 hours. We worked it from the club house under the call WA2DQL. I learned a lot and had lots of fun. I enjoyed working it with Wayne. We made 321 contacts and I think I am slowly getting my speed up a bit.

Well this past week I was asked by the QRP ARCI club to use there call K6JSS and see how many QRP contacts I could make. IT was a lot of fun. I don’t know if what I did was good and not many but I made about 20 contacts and it was very challenging and lots of fun operating it. I enjoy QRP wish is low power 5 watts or under. IT was a week event. I was not about to work it every day.

ARRL RITTY ROUNDUP
10. January 2011 by admin.
Well another contest. This one is for the club plus our own individual challenge. It started at 1:00 on Sat Jan 8,2011. Well it really started about a week age when we were trying to get things set up and ready to go. Wayne N2WK was a great help. He helped Andy KC2HZM and I KC2JKU get everything ready to go and to learn all the tricks of the trade. I am glad to say it payed off. I was off and running at 1:00 and so was almost everyone else. There was a person with trouble but he got going and did a great job. Bruce WA2TMC knows who I am talking about. The contest was a great time and I believe everyone was happy with there scores for themselves and for the club. The Club members that worked the contest were Terry(KC2JKU) Wayne(N2WK) Andy (KC2HZM) Bruce (WA2TMC) Chuck (N8CL), and Rich (K2EN) We can have up to 10 club member participate. So there is room for 4 more members and the club house radio is all set up for RITTY and any other form of operation we wish to use. So hopefully next year we will get a few more to join us. I would like to say thanks to all of our wife’s for being so understanding and to all the others for putting up with us on the repeater. I couldn’t do this every weekend but a couple times a year is a lot of fun

OK RTTY Contest
19. December 2010 by admin.
We put our club station on the air to try the new Folded Dipole that was
installed at 40 foot. Thanks to Orleans County for all they do for the club.
Great fun was had by our club members activting our Club Station during the OKDX RTTY Contest
A couple of weeks ago Terry KC2JKU,Bruce WA2DQL, Wayne, N2WK put up a new antenna. It was cold and slippery out put we got it up and had a lot of fun doing it . Dick KA2BCF and Marion KA2BCE showed up and helped. Thanks to Wayne N2WK I got my first RF burn and everybody thought that was funny. I can not tell you that antenna’s do bite.
So the weekend of December 18,and 19 the contest test started Wayne N2WK brought over the new Write log software and I KC2JKU ,Andy KC2HZM, and Wayne N2WK set everything up and ready to go. At 0000Z time the OKDX RTTY Contest started and we were ready to go . I stayed for a while and then Wayne and Andy worked it till about 10:00 pm. I KC2JKU got back over there about 5:30 am and worked the contest till Wayne N2WK and Rich K2EN showed up at 8:30. They took over for a while and I came back every now and then and helped operate. We all sure had a lot of fun and I hope that the next time there will be more operators. It was good time by all and the antenna worked great. We tried the G5RV but the end was bad and nobody wanted to brave the cold and fix it. We will have it ready for the next time. The results are below

Busy
6. December 2010 by admin.
Been busy so I have not written in a while. No excuses. We a couple of weeks ago several of us club members helped a new ham Ed (KC2ZJE) from Medina get some antenna’s set up because he is in a wheelchair. What a great person. A very up lifting type person with a very positive attitude. A couple of us have been back to get things still set for him. This past Friday a group of us also got together a put up a new antenna for the club station. It was very cold and I got my first RF burn. It sure does wake you up.

2010 First Club Hamfest
24. August 2010 by admin.
Well we have been working on the hamfest from January and now it is here and gone. What a turn out from the club. I was amazed and greatly pleased. Everybody stepped in and made it a great time. IT was a lot of work and the whole club rose to the occasion and more. It was a good time by all. The turn out could of been better but we did make a small profit for the first year. The fire hall was perfect and there help was right on. I am already looking forward to next year . The weather was just perfect for the event and the food was great.

Antenna Repair
21. July 2010 by admin.
I repaired my antenna the other day. I hope this time I got it right. I got a new u bracket from Bruce and used lock washers and nuts this time on the beam. I also welded a pipe on the top so I could keep the 2 meter beam and the vertical a little farther apart. It seems to work a little better. I wanted to work the rtty contest put it just did not work out the way it should have. Hopefully the next time I will be able to work it.
